Recent Law Changes
New Class E Airspace Established for Winnie, TX
This new law establishes Class E airspace at Griffith Ranch Airport in Winnie, Texas. It supports the introduction of new instrument procedures and operations under instrument flight rules (IFR). This change affects pilots who use this airport for IFR flights and those involved in air traffic control and aviation safety. The regulation takes effect on October 29, 2026.
Renewal of Renewable Energy Production Incentives Ends
This law requires that incentive payments for renewable energy production under the Renewable Energy Production Incentive (REPI) program stop after September 30, 2026. Before this change, eligible recipients could receive incentives as long as funds were available from Fiscal Year 1995 to 2009. Now, no further payments will be made beyond the fiscal year ending on September 30, 2026. This affects state-owned facilities, political subdivisions of states, and non-profit electric cooperatives that use renewable energy resources for electricity production.
Changes to Airspace Classifications at Fort Knox, KY
This new regulation changes the airspace classifications around Fort Knox, Kentucky. Previously, there was a Class E airspace that has now been revoked due to the decommissioning of the Godman non-directional beacon (NDB). The geographic coordinates for Godman Army Air Field are also being updated to align with FAA standards. These changes affect pilots and aviation operations in the area, ensuring compliance with FAA orders and supporting instrument flight rule procedures. This regulation takes effect on September 3, 2026.
Removal of Class E Airspace Over Honesdale Sports Complex Heliport
This amendment changes the airspace classification over Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Previously, there was a portion of Class E airspace associated with the Honesdale Sports Complex Heliport. This airspace is now being removed because the heliport has been abandoned and its instrument approach procedures have been canceled. The change affects pilots who previously used this airspace for navigation near the heliport. It takes effect on September 3, 2026.
Changes to Affordable Care Act Implementation for 2027
This law updates provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) for 2027. It includes changes to payment parameters, risk adjustment programs, user fee rates for health insurance issuers, civil money penalties for noncompliance, standards for agents and brokers, hardship exemptions, provider access requirements, dental services coverage, cost-sharing flexibilities, catastrophic plan terms, quality improvement strategies, and Basic Health Program payments. These updates affect insurers, healthcare providers, and individuals enrolled in qualified health plans through exchanges.
Name Change for Palm Beach International Airport
This amendment changes the name of Palm Beach International Airport to President Donald J. Trump International Airport in federal airspace descriptions. The change updates the FAA's National Airspace System Resources (NASR) database but does not alter the boundaries, altitudes, or operating requirements of Class C and E airspace areas around the airport. This affects pilots, air traffic controllers, and anyone using aviation resources that reference this airspace. The new name takes effect on July 9, 2026.
