Municipalities Gaining Authority for Community Choice Aggregation Programs

⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.

This proposed bill would allow municipalities in Maine to form community choice aggregation programs to procure electricity. Before this change, municipalities did not have the authority to create such programs. This would affect residents and businesses within those municipalities who could potentially benefit from bulk purchasing power for electricity. The exact effective date is not specified.
