Proposed Regulation of Nonwater-Dependent Floating Structures
⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.
This proposed bill would regulate nonwater-dependent floating structures in Maine. Before this change, there were no specific regulations for such structures. The new rules would affect owners and operators of these structures, including houseboats or other similar vessels not primarily used for water activities. If enacted, the law would specify requirements for registration, safety standards, and environmental impact assessments. However, as it is a proposed bill, no action is required until it becomes law.
