Proposed Tax Credit for Dental Providers Serving Mainecare Recipients
⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.
This proposed bill would create a tax credit for providers who offer dental care services to individuals enrolled in the state's Medicaid program, known as Mainecare. Before this proposal, there was no specific tax incentive for dental professionals providing care to Mainecare recipients. If enacted, it would encourage more dentists and other oral health professionals to serve low-income patients covered by Mainecare. The bill is aimed at improving access to dental care for those who rely on Medicaid. However, the effective date of this proposed change has not been specified.
