Aligning Unicoi County's Mineral Severance Tax with State Law

⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.

This proposed bill would align Unicoi County's mineral severance tax rates with those set by state law. Before this change, the county had its own separate tax rate for minerals. If approved locally, the new alignment means that anyone mining in Unicoi County will pay taxes according to the state's prescribed amounts instead of the county's previous rates. The bill would amend Chapter 213 of the Private Acts of 1982. Local approval is required before this change can take effect.
