Change in Requirements for Relative Caregivers

Enacted law

This law changes requirements for relative caregivers in Tennessee. Before this change, the Department of Children's Services could require a child to have their own bedroom as part of determining whether to place them with a relative caregiver. Now, the department is prohibited from making such a requirement when deciding on placing a child with a relative caregiver, including those in the kinship foster care program.
