Changes to Public Employee Insurance Committees Membership

⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.

This proposed bill would change how certain members are appointed to public employee insurance committees in Tennessee. Previously, the state insurance committee had a member appointed by the Tennessee State Employees Association; this member would now be replaced with a preferred service employee. For the local education insurance committee, a representative of local school boards selected by the Tennessee School Boards Association will be replaced by one chosen by the commissioner of finance and administration. Similarly, members of the local government insurance committee previously appointed by the Tennessee Municipal League and Tennessee County Services Association would now be employees from a municipality or county government, appointed by the commissioner of finance and administration.
