Clarification on Tenure and Dismissal Process for Temporary Permit Holders

⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.

This proposed bill would clarify that tenure protections and the process for dismissing nontenured licensed employees by a director of schools do not apply to individuals holding temporary academic or clinical permits. Before this change, it was unclear whether these protections extended to those with temporary permits. This clarification affects teachers, principals, and school personnel who hold such temporary permits in Tennessee. The effective date is not specified.
