Empowering English Language Learners During Assessments
⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.
This proposed bill would allow students who are learning English and received language assistance during the school year to use those same services while taking Tennessee's comprehensive assessment program tests or end-of-course assessments, as long as it does not invalidate the test results. Before this change, there was no specific provision allowing these students to receive such support during standardized testing. This would affect English language learners in Tennessee schools and their educators. The effective date is not specified.
