Proposed Time Limit for Child Care Abuse Investigations
⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.
This proposed bill would require the Tennessee Department of Children's Services to complete investigations into child abuse or sexual abuse allegations at child care agencies within 45 days after starting the investigation, unless there is a good reason not to. This requirement does not apply if the operator or employee of a child care agency is accused of committing the abuse. The bill would amend Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA) Titles 37 and 71. If enacted, this change could affect how quickly investigations are conducted in cases involving child care agencies.
