Restrictions on Gender-Related Questions for Minors by Healthcare Providers

⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.

This proposed bill would prohibit healthcare providers from asking certain gender-related questions to minors unless a parent is physically present and provides written consent. The questions must be directly related to the diagnosis or treatment of a specific medical or psychological condition being evaluated at that time. This change affects healthcare providers, parents of minors, and minors themselves in Tennessee. It also amends several titles within the Tennessee Code Annotated (TCA). The effective date is not specified.
