Secure Storage for Handguns at County Courthouses
⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.
This proposed bill would allow sheriffs in Tennessee counties to provide secure storage lockers for individuals who are lawfully carrying firearms and need to store their handguns when entering a courthouse where possession is restricted or prohibited. The storage units would be located near public entrances, be lockable, and provided at no cost to the individual. This change affects those who legally carry firearms and wish to enter courthouses with such restrictions.
