Proposed Kentucky-Grown Agricultural Product Procurement Act
⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.
This proposed bill would require certain state entities to prioritize procurement of agricultural products grown in Kentucky. Before this change, there was no specific requirement for state entities to preferentially purchase locally-grown agricultural goods. The affected parties include state agencies and organizations that procure agricultural products, as well as farmers and producers within the state who may benefit from increased demand. If enacted, it would encourage support of local agriculture by directing state procurement towards Kentucky-grown items.
