Change in Compensation Setting for Mayor and Council Members in Athens

⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.

This proposed bill would change how the mayor and council members' compensation is determined in Athens. Before this change, specific dollar amounts were set for their pay. If passed, the new ordinance would allow local approval to set these compensations instead of specifying exact amounts. However, it does not alter the current compensation levels for existing mayor and council members. The bill amends Chapter 455 of the Private Acts of 1953.
