Changes to Estate and Heirs Property Law

Enacted law

This law changes how estates are handled in Tennessee. Previously, the Uniform Partition of Heirs Property Act could apply to sales of land to pay off debts from an estate. Now, this act does not cover such sales. Additionally, the method for calculating a surviving spouse's share of the deceased’s estate has been revised. This affects individuals dealing with estates and heirs property in Tennessee.
