Foster Parents Gain Access to Petitions for Terminating Parental Rights

Enacted law

This law requires the Tennessee Department of Children's Services to provide foster parents who have cared for a child for at least nine consecutive months with a copy of any petition filed to terminate that child’s parental rights. The department must deliver this information within seven days after filing or receiving the petition. This change affects foster parents and the children in their care, ensuring greater transparency about legal proceedings impacting the children's future.
