Proposed Change to Animal Cruelty Law in Tennessee
⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.
This proposed bill would amend Tennessee law by adding starvation resulting in the death of a livestock animal as one of the types of conduct that constitute a Class E felony for aggravated cruelty to a livestock animal. The act must be done in a depraved and sadistic manner without justifiable or lawful purpose. This change affects individuals who engage in such acts against livestock animals, potentially increasing penalties for those convicted under this new provision.
