Restrictions on Inmate Relocation from Work Release Programs

⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.

This proposed bill would prevent the Department of Correction from moving state inmates out of local jails and into state facilities if they are participating in work release or re-entry programs. The relocation can only occur if the inmate fails to meet program requirements or has a significant disciplinary record. This change affects state inmates involved in these programs, their families, and correctional facility staff.
