Tennessee Religious Freedom Act: Prayer at Board Meetings
⚠️
PROPOSED LEGISLATIONThis bill has been introduced but has NOT been signed into law. Legislative proposals may be amended, passed, or fail to advance. This is not current law.
This proposed bill would allow local school boards in Tennessee to begin their meetings with a prayer led by one of the board members. The prayer must not be mandatory for anyone attending the meeting, and no person can be harassed or coerced into participating. This change affects local education agencies and those who attend board meetings. If enacted, it would amend Title 49 of the Tennessee Code Annotated.
